Herb on Getting Dirt Under Your Nails

Nobody Naturally Wants To Get Their Hands Dirty
Most people don't like getting their hands dirty. Most people don't want to get dirt on the nails. They like to stand back and see it. I mean, it's just natural. Nobody wants to know and naturally wants to get dirty.00:00:10:16 - 00:00:30:21
Make An Easy Entry Point
Like what my wife did with the ministry was, she came in and she worked in the office upstairs. And so we were serving folks, loving on them, partnering with them. But my wife was working upstairs, and so as she became comfortable with what we were doing, she continually felt challenged by God to be present downstairs and eventually00:00:30:21 - 00:00:55:20
Let People Get Uncomfortable With Their Un-involvement
Everyone that I know who's worked upstairs in the office, in our ministry trickles down to working downstairs and eventually they're like, Oh00:00:55:20 - 00:01:07:22
Let Them Feel Like They Need to Do More
, I need to do more. This is not enough. So like, that's a great entry point. We're going to think about points. Where is it? It's I'm making a difference, but I don't have to be with the people yet.00:01:08:03 - 00:01:23:14
Make The Environment Welcoming
And that sounds nasty, but it's just a reality eventually. And if it's done well and if it's nurtured well, then they'll want to be there, right? Is it a welcoming environment? Do I recognize it's actually not scary? It's not.00:01:25:01 - 00:01:30:19

"I am from a country called Malawi. It's in southern East Africa. Roughly, it has a population of 18.1 million and approximately 71% of my country lives in extreme poverty. It's a really poor country. (Zai after getting a nice haircut!) Fortunately, I grew up in the upper class of my country- fortunately, by God's grace. I was born to two wonderful parents my dad died, unfortunately, when I was 9 and I've been growing up with my single mother and my younger brother. (His English is really good.) So people have been asking me you've only been in the US since about August… how do you speak such good English?! I grew up in an international school. I was able to learn English and I was able to meet people from various cultures which was really good because you have a very good worldview when you meet people from India, America, the UK, people from Holand. I have friends from various ...
12 Countries Later - Learned bunches and I'm thankful to be alive! God is good! He has rescued me more times than I am even aware of and though it hasn't been an easy journey, so far it has been worth it. Lord willing, I'd like to share some of the experiences from the sports camps in the Dominican Republic to the streets of Strasburgh. Praise God for another day! and as many as he blesses us with! Peace y'all!
We Don't Need a New Gospel 03:03:07:11 - 03:03:23:03 We Don't Need a New Gospel We don't need a new gospel, right? We don't need a new gospel. We just need to actually know how to apply it. Like, what are the skills that it takes to actually live out the gospel? Do I have the skills to live that out? 03:03:23:08 - 03:03:48:08 The Gospel Has Been Relevant for 2000 Years That's the question. It's not. It's not is it's not. Is the gospel relevant? I mean, the gospel has been relevant for 2000 years. The question is, do I know how to use the gospel? And so then all of a sudden, what happens is people become rich and then rich because I now understand how to actively benefit from 03:03:50:03 - 03:04:11:02 Benefitting Others When You Know How It Benefits Yourself what benefits me. And if I benefit from what benefits me or is designed to benefit me, then there's an opportunity for it to benefit other people as it was designed to benefit other people. Th...
